Entrelac Asymmetrical Tunic Vest

By

Suzanne Pufpaff

With the advent of many asymmetrical styles showing up in the fashion market, I felt it was time to see how Entrelac could be used to create a garment that didn't fit in a square box. The garment starts with a triangular skirt on the tunic which is balanced by an off-set garter stitch shawl collar. Using the ability to change square sizes as the garment is created, allows this Entrelac Tunic to be custom fit in such a way as to flatter any body.

This garments takes Entrelac to the next level creating a garment that shows a different face from every direction.  Detail has been considered with every part of this garment and again it is just fun to wear.

It can be dressed down with slacks and a long sleaved top or it can be dressed up by adding it to a long skirt and wearing it sleaveless.

Yarn: The extra large sample garment used 20 ounces (approx 950 yards) of Hand spun 2 ply fingering weight yarn
of 75% fine natural colored llama and 25% dyed wool.
.  Since the designer is also a hand spinner, the pattern allows for variations in yarn size and
both commercial and hand spun yarns will work equally well in the pattern.

Gauge: 6 sts to the inch and 9 rows to the inch.
Gauge is not real important for this project.
It is more important to match needle size to yarn size to make a light flexible fabric.
Since Entrelac  creates a bias fabric, this also effects finished size more than the gauge.

Needle Size:  American size 5 Knitting Needles or the size needed to match yarn used.

Finished size: Measurements of sample are 21.5 inches from shoulder to waist
and additional 20 inches to the end of the bottom point.
The body measures 40 inches at just below the waist where the body is joined
and 42 inches at the bust.
All measurements can be customized using the How to Size section of this pattern.
Again the bias effect of the Entrelac creates a very flattering, body hugging garment..
