Entrelac is a knitting technique that results in a
very interesting fabric of interconnecting squares.
In this variation of the technique, a lace design has
been inserted into alternating rows of squares.
The basic design of this scarf starts by creating a
garter stitch cuff, which starts with 3 stitches.
Stitches are increased at the beginning of each row
until there are 40 stitches.
These are then divided into two sections to create the
ribbed slot.
After the slot is completed, the two sections are
reconnected and then the entrelac section is worked.
Stitches are added in each set of Entrelac squares
until the desired number of stitches have been
created the make the lace inserts in the Entrelac work.
The end of the work reverses the process and decreases
stitches in the squares until the desired number
of stitches are reached for making the ending that
repeats the beginning.
The scarf is then worn by inserting one end of the
scarf through the slot at the other end.
