Triangle Entrelac Shawl
Starting with One Square Instead
of Triangle Base Row
With
Lace Patterns Inserted in Rectangles

Entrelac has such an intriguing knit structure.
With this project, I explored how to create Entrelac
fabric without using the traditional row of base triangles.
Seven different lace stitches are used in the body of
the shawl
and a lace edging is incorporated into the cast off triangles.
.
Yarn: Sample used 16 ounces of Hand spun 2 ply
fingering weight yarn. Larger and smaller yarns can be used.
Gauge: 5 sts to the inch and 6 rows to the inch.
Gauge is not real important for this project.
It is more important to match needle size to yarn size
to make a light flexible fabric.
Since Entrelac creates a bias fabric, this also
effects finished size more than the guage.
Needle Size: American size 6 Knitting Needles or
the size needed to match yarn used.
Finished size: Measurements of sample are 44 inches on
short edge and 72 inches on long edge.
If a larger shawl is desired, lace pattern rows can be
repeated with addition repeats of the
pattern squares in the center of the shawl.
Again the bias effect of the entrelac makes for a
shawl that drapes easily on the body.
